We are delighted to announce that the RMT, Burton No. 1 Branch, has joined us as a sponsor for 2025/2026.

We are hugely grateful to our sponsors who help us pay for essential costs. This year, and next year, we do need help to pay for services related to getting out the book about Vale and his life and times in Burton. This enables us to donate more to our two charities: YMCA Burton and SARAC.

The book covers much MUCH more than just the flycatchers strike. Thanks to Vale's family and Staffordshire Records Office I now have a really comprehensive picture of Vale's journey as a conscientious objector during 1916 and 1917. In fact, I think it's one of the most detailed accounts of one man's fight against conscription that I have read. The irony is that at just 4' 11" tall, he should never have been conscripted in the first place.

Keep following this website, and our presence on BlueSky and our Forgotten Burton Stories Facebook page, for more updates about the book in the coming weeks.

If you would like to see if your business or organisation might benefit from becoming one of our valued sponsors, please get in touch.
